5 Stunning Waterfalls to Visit in Ontario

Did you know that there are hundreds of majestic waterfalls to be discovered in Ontario? While the Niagara Escarpment is responsible for a large number of waterfalls, there are many other regions with hidden gems to explore. If you’re already starting to plan some road trips this spring and summer, be sure to add these 5 magnificent waterfalls to your list.

This small, but mighty waterfall is one of the most popular waterfalls in Ontario. It is located near the village of Kagawong and can be easily accessed by the stairs that lead down to the gorge of the falls. Once at the bottom, you can take wonderful photos of the falls or even go for a swim.

At 40 meters high, Kakabeka Falls is the second highest waterfall in Ontario. These falls are located on the Kaministiquia River, located beside the village of Kakabeka Falls in the municipality of Oliver Paipoonge, Ontario. There are excellent views of the falls and gorge from the boardwalk that wraps around the top of the falls so you won't have to do any strenuous hiking to capture this beauty. If you happen to be in the Thunder Bay area, these falls are a must-see!

Both of these gorgeous waterfalls are located in the Spencer Gorge Conservation area in Hamilton, Ontario. Webster Falls is a 22-metre classical curtain waterfall that can be viewed from many different lookout spots in the area. Due to the area’s popularity , visitors should reserve a spot in advance to enjoy Webster Falls from May to November. Tew Falls which happens to be Hamilton's tallest waterfall is a quick drive from Webster Falls so you can easily see them both in one day. Both areas have great trails and lookout points and is a great place to spend the day.

Almost everyone has at least heard of Niagara Falls, and for good reason -- it is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Ontario! Niagara Falls is actually made up of three separate waterfalls: the American Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls (named for its resemblance to a bride's veil) and the largest, the Horseshoe Falls. If gazing at the falls isn't enough for you, hop aboard the Maid of the Mist boat to get an up-close look and feel (it's wet out there) of the falls.

Stubb's Falls is located in Arrowhead Provincial Park and can be found on an easy 2.6 kilometer moderately trafficked loop trail. The trail can be hiked year round, but it’s exceptionally beautiful in the fall and winter seasons. There are plenty of things to do at the park so booking a spot at their campsite would give you time to take part in all of the outdoor activities the park has to offer.

I hope you get to enjoy one of the many beautiful waterfalls located in Ontario. There are hundreds of them out there so feel free to drop a comment below to let me know your favourites!
